With a background in athletics, Ashley's love of healthy food and fitness has taken her on a great journey so far, both in her career and personal life. With over 12k followers on Instagram, and a NASM certificate in Personal Training, she is something of a fitness icon.
We invited Ashley to give her 'edgy and athletic' twist to her favorite AM piece, read on to find out what it was...
AM: Tell us a little bit about yourself and your typical day?
AW: I’m a small town Louisiana girl that took on the challenge of the Big City. You know how Beyonce says she’s got hot sauce in her bag? Guilty as charged! My typical day is busy and on the move, it’s how I work best. Typical New Yorker! My day starts early (up by 5AM ) I love to get a sweat in before work. You’re likely to catch me at Barry’s Bootcamp or Y7 Hot Yoga. Mid-day I’m putting in my office time at Under Armour, managing Hospitality and Events for New York City. Post work, I’m either teaching class, training clients, studying for my next certification, or catching up with my #fitfam at Indie Fresh in Chelsea Market.
AM: You are one serious active lady, just from looking at Instagram you do yoga, run, cycle, swim, box, lift… is there any exercise you haven’t tried??
AW: If it involves getting sweaty or moving, I’ve likely tried it! My fitness style is a mix of my vast background in athletics and I truly think there is something you can take away from every workout or sport. Stability, flexibility, agility, strength, power - you name it and they all benefit each other.
But yes, I haven’t tried aerial yoga... yet. Stay tuned, I’m sure I’ll do it this week!
AM: Tell us about this outfit! Which pieces did you pair your AM gear with, and why?
AW: I love these joggers! The print is a beautiful, fun floral, but the warm colors give it a great fall feel. I paired them with my chunky American Apparel turtleneck to match the comfy, loose fit vibe of the joggers. My favorite BLK DNM leather jacket and Frye Engineer boots add a little edge, and my go-to Madewell fedora is like the hipster cherry on top.
AM: Where are 3 places you’d wear your new AM gear?
AW: To work (I literally went straight to work after our photo shoot!), post-workout errands around town, and a go-to for traveling.
AM: What do you love most about your new AM piece?
AW: Considering so much of my time is spent in tighter workout clothing, having a loose fitting pair of joggers is a must.
AM: How would you describe your style in two words?
AW: Edgy & Athletic!
AM: If you were deserted on an island, what one item would you want with you?
AW: Coffee!...and my foam roller. (sorry can’t decide!)
AM: Top 3 workout songs you are loving right now?
AW: I Can Be Somebody by Deorro, any Sia Remix, and Breakin’ a Sweat- Zedd remix (Skrillex)
AM: Go-to post-workout snack?
AW: Well, that’s an easy one.. Indie Fresh! :) “Wake Up Ashley” is my definite go to for pre or post workout. Coffee and protein? Yes please! As an athlete, your recovery is just as important as your workout itself. Indie Fresh has created the perfectly balanced menu for vegans and meat-lover, alike. Offering lean, clean, and protein packed meals and snacks. They even provide meal programs for the on-the-go New Yorkers who want to #forgetthecheatday and forget the hassle! Check ‘em out.

AM: Last workout you did was…
AW: Can you guess? Barry’s Bootcamp! It really is the best workout in the world. I’ve always been a huge fan and I couldn’t be more excited to officially be apart of the team as an instructor.
AM: You and Shom, founder of Indie Fresh, make the cutest fitness couple! Definite #couplegoals, how do you guys like to stay active together?
It’s cheesy, but we literally fell in love through fitness (and healthy food!). I was sidelined with a terrible injury last fall that nearly ended my fitness career. I used boxing and yoga as a big form of recovery and Shom was always my partner-in-fitness-crime. Being active is our happy place and sharing it together is the ultimate bond.
Whether we’re huffing 100 mile cycling rides up the palisades, sprinting at 12.5 at Barry’s Bootcamp, or flowing it out in hot yoga - we constantly inspire each other to take chances and push a little harder. We’re each other’s perfect balance.

AM: How is your perfect day off spent?
AW: Define day off? Just kidding! I live in New York, so I’m always on the go. Even when I don’t need to be. Movement is such a vital part of who I am. It helps me relieve stress, feel grounded, and get creative. If I sit still for too long, I feel like I’m missing out.
Don’t get me wrong, I love a good veg-out day, but I’ll still work in a yoga session or cruising bike ride around the city, if I take a day off at the gym. I’m also a BIG walker. I could literally walk aimlessly for hours. Coffee or matcha in hand, of course.
AM: Biggest achievement of 2016
AW: Investing in myself! Going back to school to get serious about my fitness career, taking the jump, and landing as a Barry’s Bootcamp Instructor!
AM: What does 2017 hold for Ashley Wilking?
AW: Big things. Rome wasn’t build in a day, but once you have your foundation, the sky is the limit. I’m just getting started!
