Summer has arrived, and as the temperature climbs higher, you may be looking to change up your skincare routine. Whether your skin gets more oily during the hotter months or becomes dry and flaky, knowing what’s in your skincare products is important. I turn to natural products when I can because I like reading a label and knowing exactly what I’m putting on my skin.
Treat your skin well this summer and try adding some of these natural items into your routine.
1. Herbivore Rose Hibiscus Hydrating Face Mist

While drinking water hydrates your body from the inside out, consider using a face mist to help keep your face hydrated. I’m always downing coconut water, so I was kind of excited when I found out it was one of the main ingredients in the Herbivore Rose Hibiscus Hydrating Face Mist ($16-32, Herbivore Botanicals). This product can help keep your skin soft and smooth. I’ll find myself using it in the morning after I wash the sleep out of my eyes and again at night after I cleanse the day away.
2. OSEA Blemish Balm

In the summer, I reach for sunscreen more times than the rest of the year. I can’t live without it, but sometimes the mix of sunscreen, makeup and sweat takes a toll on my skin, which reacts in breakouts. To help keep them at bay, try the OSEA Blemish Balm ($44, OSEA Malibu). It’s a lightweight moisturizer, perfect for if your skin is already oily or if it’s sweltering hot outside. It’s great for acne-prone skin and you can even use it as a makeup primer. If you’ve ever been sensitive to certain acne topical treatments, you may want to give this moisturizer a try since it may not be as harsh as other products.
3. The Gentle Label Organic Healing Balm

Raise your hand if you’re always trying to turn your winter, scaly skin into summer, soft skin? Reach for a tube of The Gentle Label Organic Healing Balm ($16, The Gentle Label). I love products you can use for more than one purpose. You can use this balm on chapped lips, rough elbows and even on what I like to call gross summer-in-the-city feet (AKA dry heels). This is perfect for summer because you can also use it on cuts, scrapes, burns and even bug bites.
4. Soul Sunday The Pits Natural Deodorant

Summer scents should be salty ocean air, campfires and hot dogs, not B.O. Although you may not be able to avoid someone else’s B.O., especially if you’re stuck in a crowded and stuffy subway car, you can be sure that you don’t smell bad. If you’re looking for an aluminum-free deodorant, try The Pits Natural Deodorant ($16, Soul Sunday). The product comes in a jar instead of a typical roll-on tube. If you’ve got sensitive underarms, especially after shaving, this may be a great new item to try.
5. Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask

Glow Recipe’s Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask ($45, Glow Recipe) is the summer item that’s already flying off the shelves. It may be sold out on the brand’s site and on Sephora’s site, so you may want to check your local Sephora stores. (You can always sign up to get an email from the brand or from Sephora once the item is back in stock online). So what’s the big deal? Eating watermelon is refreshing, so putting it on your skin would be just the same, right? Sleeping masks are great because it does the work for you while you’re getting your beauty sleep. Just smooth a thin layer of the pretty pink product onto your skin, catch some zzz’s and wake up feeling great.
There are so many natural skincare products you can try this summer that will give you that glow from within.
